Adrian Webber

I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, in private practice in Armidale, NSW. I work with individuals and couples, and provide supervision to mental health professionals from a range of fields. My undergraduate training is in psychology and I have completed postgraduate training in psychology, counselling and psychotherapy. I have participated in postgraduate training for the psychoanalytic approach to the treatment of personality disorders (disorders of self) and I am in ongoing clinical supervision for the Masterson psychoanalytic approach. Working with complex trauma, substance misuse and related concerns of self esteem are primary areas of my work, including the significant impacts these can have upon employment and relationships. I am listed as an approved provider of complex trauma psychotherapy with ASCA (Adults Surviving Child Abuse; www.asca.org.au) for which I have had to undertake a minimum level of training and supervision for eligibility. In addition to my private practice, I am employed as a Lecturer in Counselling at the University of New England. I have six years experience as a clinical supervisor for an in-patient substance misuse treatment program, as well as previous experience working in crisis and family violence agencies. While my approach is psychodynamic/psychoanalytically oriented, I believe above all the importance of a safe and supportive counselling environment built upon a non-judgmental and trusting relationship is the basis for growth.
