Colleen Barker, a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Registered Pharmacist (RPh) from Northampton, PA, has established herself as a leader in medical information management and pharmacy informatics. She prioritizes the careful review of prescriptions to identify potential drug interactions and reduce the risk of adverse effects. Colleen’s professional path began as a Pharmacy Intern in 2002 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania, followed by an internship at CVS Pharmacy. She prepared intravenous medications and managed the prescription dispensing system in these roles. After completing her PharmD in 2005, she became a staff pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy, overseeing the daily operations of a high-volume pharmacy, managing a team of technicians, and supervising over 4,000 prescriptions weekly. Her responsibilities also included training new pharmacy staff, resolving prescription-related issues, and navigating insurance claims, particularly for narcotic drugs. In 2010, Colleen moved to Telex-Merck & Co. as a Medical Team Member, supporting Merck’s pharmaceutical products and documenting adverse events. In this role, she was introduced to the field of medical writing and gained experience in product information and scientific communication. Her medical writing and information management career expanded as she worked with leading pharmaceutical companies such as Bristol Myers Squibb and Otsuka America Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where she focused on providing detailed, accurate product information for healthcare professionals. Colleen is a Senior Medical Information-Respiratory/Oncology Manager at TEVA Pharmaceuticals, NA. In this role, she collaborates with internal legal, regulatory affairs, marketing, and sales teams to provide medical support for ongoing pharmaceutical activities. She maintains and updates a library of medical response documents and has authored numerous healthcare and promotional materials. Her ability to work across departments ensures that TEVA’s medical content is accurate and compliant with corporate and regulatory standards. Outside of her professional work, Colleen is deeply committed to cancer research, a cause close to her heart after losing her mother to leukemia at age 30. She actively advocates for research advancements aimed at improving treatments and patient outcomes. Despite her busy career, she enjoys spending time outdoors, camping with her son, and attending car races.
