Nick DeSimone

Founder and CEO of Lifetime Recovery
he/him · Mullica Hill, NJ

Dr. Nicholas DeSimone began his professional life in finance, where he built a successful career in banking. Over time, however, he felt a strong pull to pursue work that aligned more closely with his values and desire to help others. This inner shift led him to make a major career change, stepping away from finance to begin a new chapter in behavioral health. It was a decision grounded in purpose and a clear intention to support people facing real and difficult challenges. He entered the field as an addictions counselor, where he spent four years working closely with individuals struggling with substance use. This experience gave him direct insight into the emotional and psychological toll that addiction can take. He learned the clinical aspects of treatment and the importance of listening, patience, and empathy. His dedication to this work led to his promotion as Director of Substance Abuse Services at a private outpatient center. He began thinking about how recovery could be more holistic and centered on the individual. In June 2017, he turned that vision into action by founding Lifetime Recovery in Mullica Hill, New Jersey. The outpatient center was built on the belief that recovery is more than stopping harmful behavior—it’s about rebuilding one’s life with care and intention. Lifetime Recovery offers programs that address physical, emotional, and mental health in a coordinated way. Clients receive care that reflects their unique paths, focusing on long-term recovery and the tools needed to sustain it. Recognizing the link between addiction and broader mental health concerns, Dr. DeSimone expanded his services in April 2021 by opening Renewed Light Mental Health in West Deptford, New Jersey. This center was created to support individuals facing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief. Like his first facility, Renewed Light is focused on personalized outpatient care and guided by the principle that healing looks different for everyone. The goal is to help individuals find stability and move forward with strength and support. His educational journey mirrors his commitment to the field. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Rowan University and a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University. In 2021, he completed a PhD in General Psychology with a specialization in Performance Psychology, which examines how mental skills influence personal growth and behavior. He became a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in 2017 and received his Licensed Professional Counselor credential in 2022. Dr. DeSimone’s connection to this work goes beyond education and licensure. He is in long-term recovery himself, having reached thirteen years of sobriety as of 2025. His personal experience brings added depth to his clinical approach, allowing him to relate to clients in a way that is honest and grounded. He often speaks publicly about his journey, offering insight and encouragement to those beginning their recovery process. In a segment on Fox 29 News during “Sober September,” he discussed the broader meaning of sobriety. He talked about the importance of stepping back to reflect, reset, and reevaluate one’s relationship with substances. He also touched on the social expectations around drinking and how they can challenge those trying to make a change. His perspective gave viewers a thoughtful look at what sobriety can offer beyond physical health. Today, Nick DeSimone continues his work through Lifetime Recovery and Renewed Light Mental Health. His approach is shaped by professional knowledge and personal understanding, and he remains focused on providing care that meets individuals where they are. Whether in a clinical setting or speaking to the community, he believes that recovery is possible and that people can build a future filled with hope and purpose with the right support.
