She/Her · Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Erika Mackinnon has spent the last five years building a career in medical sales, developing expertise across business development, strategy, revenue growth, market research, sales forecasting, product presentations, account management, and client relationship development. Since 2020, she has worked in medical device sales, focusing on Spine, serving as a Spine Specialist and Sales Associate. Her role places her in the operating room daily, where she collaborates closely with surgical teams to provide product support during procedures. Her path into the medical sales industry began after completing a 440-hour postgraduate training program at Medical Sales College in Sarasota, Florida. There, she earned certification in Spine, Orthopedic Reconstruction, and Trauma. The program equipped her with skills in regenerative medicine, consultative selling, trauma and orthopedic device knowledge, and business development methods. These competencies prepared her to expand territories, grow client bases, and contribute to business success. Erika developed a strong understanding of procedures and products in spine, biologics, orthopedic reconstruction, trauma, and sports medicine. In addition to technical training, she learned anatomy, physiology, pathology, biomechanics, orthobiologics, and medical terminology. She also became well-versed in operating room protocols and hospital communication points, allowing her to convey the benefits of medical products to healthcare professionals. While completing her certification, Mackinnon began working as a Sales Associate at SS Fusion Medica in Tampa, Florida. Her responsibilities included territory coverage, scheduling meetings with physicians and staff, and maintaining relationships across clinical and administrative teams. After one year, Erika accepted a position with Globus Medical in Memphis, Tennessee, where she has worked for four years. In this role, she supports sales initiatives, manages provider relationships, and assists with various surgical procedures such as ACDF, PCF, TLIF, PLIF, ALIF, lateral lumbar fusion, and various spinal deformity surgeries. Mackinnon earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Florida State University in 2016. Early in her career, she served as a Chief Legislative Intern in the Florida Senate, drafting briefings, monitoring legislation, and meeting with advocacy groups and constituents. She later worked as a junior lobbyist and political fundraiser. Her career path also includes a role as a Business Development Analyst at GSSP in Stamford, Connecticut, where Erika contributed to policy analysis, strategic planning, and transaction logistics. She later served as Deputy Finance Director at The O’Rourke Group, where she developed fundraising strategies, connected with donors, and conducted outreach efforts in both political and nonprofit sectors. Mackinnon holds multiple certifications, including AdvaMed Code of Ethics, HIPAA, Aseptic Technique and Infection Control, Bloodborne Pathogens, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, National Patient Safety, and Protocol Certification. Beyond her career, she has a deep interest in interior design. After purchasing her home, Erika redesigned the space by combining vintage charm with modern and traditional elements. She enjoys sourcing antiques and giving older items a new purpose, and she may consider exploring interior design professionally. As a mother of two, Mackinnon spends much of her time in the kitchen, where she enjoys preparing visually pleasing and flavorful meals. Cooking remains one of her favorite ways to connect with family and express creativity. She actively supports charitable organizations, including the Salvation Army and the Humane Society, staying committed to causes that help people and protect animals. Erika Mackinnon continues to grow professionally while balancing her interests, family life, and commitment to community support.
