My geographical biography: raised in Western MA, college in Berea, KY, a year in London, six years in Princeton, NJ, and then off to Japan, where I've been for the past sixteen years. I live in Kanagawa Prefecture, with my Japanese husband and his parents. My work? I own and run an after-school English school called Rainbow Phonics. It's both my work and my passion, and I find I have few "hobbies" that are not related to my teaching work in some way. My school will be closed during this coming academic year while I pursue my Master's degree in TESOL and blog about the experience; hopefully, my Japanese students will find the stories and photos engaging, and will look forward to my journal posts. If anyone else wants to take a peek, they're more than welcome. In my leisure? I have not experienced an excess of leisure, but when I manage to snatch some, I enjoy soaking in hot springs or sitting in the perfect chair with a novel. Or waving a placard in an anti-nuclear protest in Tokyo. Or drinking a good cup of coffee in a department store cafe. Or tea. Or an occasional glass of wine.
