Rami Beracha

General Partner at Eden Block
(He/Him) · New York, NY

Rami Beracha is an Israeli venture capitalist and a general partner at Eden Block, a London-based global investment firm focused on foundational infrastructure for the new Open Internet. Born in Tel Aviv in 1961, he enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces in 1980 and served in the Paratroopers Brigade, Battalion 890. During the first Lebanon War, he fought in the eastern sector as part of an infantry cadet battalion. After the war, he completed his combat officers’ course with the highest distinction, ranking first among 250 special forces cadets, and returned to his unit as a platoon commander in August 1982. In 1983, while stationed in the Ein Zhalta area of the Shouf Mountains in Lebanon, he took part in an operational mission under his battalion commander. During this mission, a force led by a second lieutenant entered a wild minefield, which wounded three soldiers. He was sent as part of a rescue team and stepped on a mine himself, resulting in the loss of his right hand and left foot, as well as serious injury to his left hand. After a lengthy rehabilitation, he returned to active reserve service in an elite unit and continues to serve in the reserves. During the recent ongoing conflict, he was on active reserve duty for 450 days with the Elite 98 Brigade. Rami Beracha began his professional career as an attorney at a leading Wall Street law firm, specializing in restructuring and securities for over four years. He then spent 18 years as a managing partner at Pitango Venture Capital Fund, Israel’s largest venture capital firm, managing over $2.5 billion, with 90 mergers and acquisitions and 25 IPOs. He focused on deep-tech Web 2 investments and served on the boards of several startups later acquired by companies such as Apple, Cisco, Marvel, Microsoft, Oracle, and others. He has over 20 successful exits and has been recognized multiple times as one of Israel’s top five venture capital partners. In 2011, he was honored as the "Most Respected Partner" in a notable annual survey of Israeli startup entrepreneurs and managers. In 2018, he joined Eden Block, a global venture capital fund dedicated to blockchain technologies and the decentralized digital economy. His extensive experience guiding startups through early funding, growth, market strategy, and exit negotiations has been a key asset to the firm and its portfolio companies. He also co-founded an open innovation company based in Tel Aviv. Before his injury, he was a competitive tennis player in the national league with a significant Tel Aviv tennis club. Despite his injuries, his passion for sports continued, and he took up extreme sports such as mountain biking, snowboarding, and especially kitesurfing—a sport he mastered despite losing two limbs. He also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, exemplifying his determination and resilience. He serves on an association's board supporting disabled veterans, offering health, education, and well-being assistance. He volunteers as a speaker to military officers, entrepreneurs, injured soldiers, and students, sharing insights on resilience and decision-making in challenging situations. He regularly visits injured soldiers to encourage them, mentors veterans in business, and supports low-income families through philanthropy. Rami Beracha earned his JD from Tel Aviv University in 1989, followed by an LLM in Banking and Financing from Fordham University in 1992. He also holds an MBA from INSEAD in France.
